SAN DIEGO — Kevin Feige took the Hall H stage at San Diego Comic-Con for what has become his annual ritual of reshaping the cinematic landscape, and the 2026 edition may have been the most consequential since the original Avengers announcement in 2012. Marvel Studios officially revealed its complete Phase 7 slate, running from 2027 through the spring of 2030, and the centerpiece is the franchise that Marvel fans have been demanding since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox: the X-Men.

The Phase 7 lineup includes twelve films and eight Disney+ series. The X-Men reboot, simply titled "The Uncanny X-Men," is scheduled for May 2028 with a reported budget of $300 million — Marvel's largest ever. Filmmaker Barry Jenkins (Moonlight, Mufasa) is directing, with the cast including Jodie Comer as Rogue, Glen Powell as Cyclops, and Daniel Kaluuya as a still-undisclosed character widely believed to be Professor X. Fantastic Four: Doomsday follows in November 2028, with Galactus as the primary antagonist. The Phase culminates in "Avengers: The Mutant Saga" (May 2029) and "Avengers: Secret Wars" (May 2030).

Marvel also confirmed several projects designed to address the "superhero fatigue" narrative: a horror-tinged Blade re-reboot directed by Jordan Peele, a Scarlet Witch solo film positioned as a psychological thriller, and an animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse crossover with the MCU — a collaboration between Sony Animation and Marvel Studios. The scope is staggering — an estimated $4.5 billion in production investment over four years — and the reaction from Hall H was ecstatic. Whether general audiences, who have been noticeably cooler toward Marvel's post-Endgame output, will share that enthusiasm remains the multibillion-dollar question.
